The year 2013 marks the 80th Anniversary of the Holodomor, a tragedy of unfathomable proportions, which has left scars on Ukrainians around the world to this day. Dreadful and incomprehensible acts of purposeful famine and genocide occur around the world and affect several cultures; this crime must be stopped and spoken out against. This piece of contemporary dance choreography is a journey through the emotional struggle of the Holodomor. One woman’s solo voice cries for her mother’s comfort and God’s mercy as she succumbs to her starvation. The dark imagery and subject-matter challenges the widespread human capacities for evil, hope, compassion and faith. We invite you to join us in this emotional journey – find faith in times of sorrow, grieve, and see dance through different eyes.
